Episode 50 - Tyler Babin: Waking Up Everyday Doing What You Love

The last and final podcast from New York City… the grand finale… number 50… the art director for Gary Vaynerchuk himself… Tyler Babin.

This podcast episode is really something special to me for a couple reasons. It’s the 50th episode of the entire project which to me is crazzzzy to think about because I can still remember releasing the first episode just the other day. This process has been a hell of a ride and I’m grateful for all these guests thus far.

I knew of Tyler Babin before he had any clue who “Bobbbaaaay” was but if I’m being honest with you I was very much caught off guard when I had seen his Instagram account “@Babin” had followed me. I instantly DM’ed him to tell him straight up how much the content that his team was producing had helped me. That content was for entrepreneur Gary Vee.

If you know me then you know how passionate I am for Gary Vaynerchuk simply because of how much good energy that guy puts into this world and yet he asks for nothing in return. He has has the key to greatness and passes it out to anyone that is willing to just listen to what he has to say. Well it just so happens that Tyler Babin is the art director for Gary Vee and is behind a lot of the content you come across on Instagram and some of his ‘Daily Vees.’

Growing up in Tallahassee, Florida Tyler knew from his first time traveling to New York City in 8th grade that Manhattan was the place he needed to be. I can’t really blame him because coming from a decent size hometown myself, NYC just seems like a city full of opportunity for someone with ambition. Following his passions for photography, filmmaking and design he landed himself an opportunity to work as a design intern for Vaynermedia. Although he was not offered a full-time position from the internship he was able to prove himself to Gary and was later offered a full-time spot to work for him directly.

This podcast was recorded on the 25th floor of Vaynermedia in New York City and although there was no way to capture it, the energy of just being in this office was something special.

I think one of the main takeaways from this episode is to wake up everyday and do what you love. Although it may seem impossible or unrealistic it can absolutely be your life if you want it to be. There are people in this world that will wake up everyday and do something they hate or on the other hand, they feel fired up and energized for a new day. Ask yourself “If I could wake up and get paid to do something everyday, what would it be?” Do that.
