Stan Sono is a multi-talented artist from Chicago, Illinois. He first started releasing music in 2016 and he's racked up millions of plays thus far. Sono has been paving out his own lane by delivering unique and quality music consistently.

Ben: Before we get into questions, can you give readers a brief introduction of yourself?

Stan Sono: My name is Stan Sono. I’m a recording artist, singer/songwriter and producer from Chicago. Been makin music for years and years, worked with a lotta dope rappers and the past few years I’ve been creatin my own wave with my music

Ben: When and how did you discover your passion for creating music?

Stan Sono: When I was a teenager, I was going through it after my dad passed. Music, specifically rap was there for me and I’d zone out into my headphones. I’d learn the lyrics and shit and rap along. It was the beginning and then eventually I started to do my own experimentation which eventually led up to where I’m at today.

Ben: What progression have you seen throughout the years of creating music? Either personally and musically.

Stan Sono: I mean for me, the goal is to consistently grow and get better. I learn new shit all the time, every day. So much is changing, you just gotta learn how to have thick skin in the game. My rush is knowing that I can evolve and develop past what I ever thought I could. Personally, I’m just happy to do what I love and keep creating while growing my fanbase and network.

Ben: You’re preparing the release of your new EP “Fantasies.” The lead single “Rodeo” was released a few weeks ago and is already racking up plays on all platforms. What was it like creating this project?

Stan Sono: Definitely. I’m excited to drop this project it’s a totally different vibe than the previous EP. This one is uptempo and fun and sexy all at the same time. I had a good time making these records. I honed in on where my voice needs sit like my vocal tones and just tried to sharpen up the pen. The records were all mostly made with me and my boy V3ry Rich who co-produced it. I can’t wait till it’s out and people can vibe!

Ben: Who has been the biggest influences in your musical journey?

Stan Sono: I started off really appreciating Michael Jackson’s work early on because he could do it all. My mom would play his stuff and Queen. The voices were so angelic, I probably picked up on that I’m sure. Later on, I was influenced by The-Dream and still am, he sets the bar in my opinion. Drake does too, I’m always thinkin about how he would approach records when I’m in the studio.

Ben: What is something you want to happen in the next 2 years and how do you plan to make it happen?

Stan Sono: I want to be able to move to LA and grow my following and my career. I plan to grind it out in Chicago, continue to build with the people who fuck with me and the ones who have yet to discover. There will be shows August and September for sure. I’ll be announcing more too.

Ben: What advice would you give to someone following their passion?

Stan Sono: Stick to it, fuck what others say. Don’t overthink. Follow your gut. Always record the first shit that comes to mind. Learn the business, not just the creative. Collaborate with others as often as possible. Be yourself always!
